About Us

Quote by Dan Siegal

Safety is not the absence of threat; it is the presence of connection. Healing occurs in the context of relationships.

We prioritise building strong relationships between children and young people, team members, and the wider community. This approach helps children and young people feel secure, supported, and valued. Our team is trained therapeutically to support building secure connections with our children and young people.

We believe that all behaviour is a form of communication. We will support children and young people to develop self-awareness so they can ‘survive’ big feelings and emotions and still make healthy choices.

By implementing the ‘relational approach’ we will work with individuals – being fair does not always mean doing the same thing for everyone. Through the relational approach, we will develop respect for ourselves and each other.

Our inclusive approach will support children and young people with the skills, values, and mindset needed to thrive academically, socially, and personally in an ever-changing world.

  • Community Building Activities: Newton Wood Barn provides regular events and activities that promote a sense of community. Such as community gatherings, group projects, and community enterprises and initiatives. Newton Wood children and young people will have the chance to engage with the natural environment using the farm estate, experiencing nature and the work provided within it. This gives the immediate community a context. This approach aims to raise awareness of their surroundings, participate in social dynamics, and be effective in the physical conditions of our world. Newton Wood Barn believes that there are inherent opportunities for young people to explore, connect and be purposely involved with.
