We’re proud to share a recent collaboration between Newton Wood Barn Alternative Provision and Rotherfield Park Estate.

Children and young people took part in a hands-on environmental initiative, working within the estate’s woodland and forest areas to carefully remove plastic tree sleeves from newly established saplings. These sleeves, once essential for early growth, were collected for recycling—supporting both the health of the woodland and our shared commitment to sustainability.

This activity is a great example of how green spaces, community partnerships, and meaningful engagement can come together. By involving young people directly in the care of the natural environment, we’re not only supporting conservation efforts but also fostering a sense of responsibility, connection, and pride in the world around them.

Experiences like this are at the heart of what we do—creating opportunities for young people to learn, contribute, and thrive through real-world, purposeful activities.

A big thank you to everyone involved, especially Lizzie for the organising and the cakes, Jamie (woodlands and forest lead) in making this a positive and impactful day
