Especially year 9 don’t you think?

The UK education system often values exam performance over creativity or practical skills, which can demotivate teenagers who learn differently.

Its hard for those not academically commensurate and not excelling at the curriculum- because it’s from here subjects become more specialised and abstract — for example, algebra, literary analysis, or complex science topics. Not everyone learns at the same pace or in the same way.

Choosing your GCSEs or options are right around the corner..and if you are a practical learner, vocational pathways are not set up for this age group- it’s too early for apprentiships!

Emotionally the teenage years are rife with ‘finding identity’ and yet it’s so important they find safe role models.

It’s hard for teachers to give individual support when they’re stretched thin.

Pupils from less advantaged backgrounds might lack access to tutoring, quiet study spaces, or resources at home. So projects like we offer rule!

Getting some success, engagement and curiosity when learning is so important- especially at Yr9!!!
