Last week pupils from Newton Wood Barn School had the incredible opportunity to visit a farm archaeological site in Hampshire for a truly hands-on learning experience.
Throughout the visit, our three curriculum fundamentals — Engage, Explore and Extend — were brought to life in meaningful ways. The pupils were fully engaged as they sifted through remains and uncovered artefacts, explored the stories and history behind their discoveries through practical workshops, and extended their learning by piecing together findings and asking thoughtful questions about the past.
Seeing history come alive beyond the classroom was both inspiring and memorable for the children. Experiences like this encourage curiosity, confidence, and a deeper connection to learning that will stay with them long after the visit.
